Michele Schlanbusch, owner of Adventures In Fitness.Biz, is no stranger to the fitness industry. For over 15 years, Michele has served as a fitness consultant to the, spa industry, health care industry, luxury cruise industry and the U.S. Military. Michele is certified as an Advanced Exercise Specialist, Kettlebell Strength & Conditioning Coach, Pilates Instructor, Group Exercise Instructor and Massage Therapist as well as being a Continuing Education Provider. Now, she has carved out her niche in the fitness world, using her unique “old school” approach to create innovative exercise programming that will challenge your boundaries, stretch your imagination, and redefine your fitness - mind, body and spirit.
As a Certified Advanced Exercise Specialist, Group Exercise Leader and lecturer, Michele has traveled extensively plying her trade at world class resorts such as The Golden Door in Escondido, Ca; Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona as well as several luxury cruise lines and wellness centers, designing a broad range of fitness programs that not only satisfied her client’s intended goal but ensured greater performance and an enhanced quality of life.
As an Afloat Fitness Director for the United States Navy and Marine Corps, Michele was responsible for managing, supervising and designing cutting edge fitness programs for over 4500 active duty men and women while deployed in the Persian Gulf. Today she reigns as Master Trainer, but focuses the majority of her time on her signature boot camp, kettlebell and extreme core training programs, providing fun, calorie-incinerating, results driven, total body workouts for people of all fitness levels.
As a Certified Kettlebell Strength & Conditioning Coach as well as a nationally ranked kettlebell lifting athlete, Michele uses her Kettlebell training techniques to help clients lose weight, build strength, restore dynamic function once lost due to disease/injury and radically enhance athletic performance.
As a Certified Massage Therapist and former Doula, Michele has worked with expectant moms helping them find practical ways to get fit while alleviate their maternal aches and pains. Michele created Baby Fit Camps to teach expectant mom’s how to exercise safely and efficiently throughout all stages of pregnancy. With the overwhelming success of her prenatal programs, Michele has created a variety of postnatal fitness programs for moms and babies to workout together and nurture their unique bond.
Michele has been a student of movement her entire life. From practicing gymnastics, aerial dance, competing in kettlebell sport and exploring her Afro-Caribbean roots through dance to pursuing her post graduate studies in movement and manual therapies such as Watsu, Neuromuscular Therap, Deep Tissue, Asian Body Work Sports and Thai massage, therefore the path to the Pilates Method was a natural progression. Michele completed a PMA approved 500-hour comprehensive Pilates Certification Program through Kore Pilates in La Jolla; under the instruction of Stephanie Aubuchon-Fernandez, a former principle ballet dancer for the San Diego Ballet, who studied under Rael Isacowitz, founder of Body Arts and Science Institute and taught Pilates classes for Julian Littleford. Michele continues to hone her skills and mastery of the classical and contemporary Pilates Method through ongoing instruction and continuing education through Pilates Aligned and The Pilates Center in Colorado; Balanced Body University and Body Arts and Science Institute in Southern California. Michele’s firm yet balanced approach to the Pilates Method reflects her passion for the original works of Joseph Pilates and her love for creating innovative exercise programs. Her dedication has taken her on a journey for the past 3.5 years serving as a fitness consultant to the City of Chula Vista’s Norman Park Senior Center, developing, implementing and perfecting a fall prevention program, solely utilizing the Pilates Method. This program, originally funded by a grant from Scripps Hospital, has been so successful that it has evolved to incorporate functional training and muscular re-patterning techniques to help seniors pursue a more active and satisfying lifestyle.
Currently, Michele combines her classical and contemporary Pilates training with her vast working knowledge of kettlebell sport, neuromuscular re-education, extreme fitness with functional strength and conditioning to create a variety of fun, results-driven, performance training, weight-loss, wellness and pre/postnatal programs for women of all fitness levels. |
